Co.ind controls begin at the moment of cultivation in the countries of origin, where our experts carefully select the best raw coffee and verify its adherence to pre-established standards. Upon arrival in Italy, the coffee is subjected to further controls at the company in-house laboratory, where specific taste tests and chemical and physical analyses are performed.

Product development

Co.ind is a very high specialized group where the production process is managed with sophisticated electronic systems. The principle phases of Co.ind coffee production are: control, roasting, blending, grinding, packaging.
 
Co.ind rigorous control process begins at the moment of cultivation in the countries of origin, where Co.ind experts carefully select the best raw coffee and verify its adherence to pre-established standards. Upon arrival in Italy, the coffee is subjected to further controls at the company’s in-house laboratory, where specific taste tests and chemical and physical analyses are performed. To guarantee consistency in aroma and flavour, Co.ind uses a sophisticated “basket” system classifying each batch of green coffee with homogeneous organoleptic characteristics.
 
Then the roasting process is extremely delicate. In order to extract the best organoleptic characteristics from coffee beans, they must be heated to extremely high temperatures ranging (from 200 to 240 degrees centigrade), and they must be uniformly roasted without being burned. Sophisticated electronic equipment enables continuous monitoring of this process, which is carried out following the specified roasting "curve" defined for the coffee. Just after the coffee has been cleaned up from the last impurities starts the blending and just after, for ground and pod coffee products, the grinding. Co.ind coffee is processed with state-of-the-art roller grinders to ensure the best quality, and the consistency of the output is controlled with a granulometer, a modern instrument that utilizes laser technology.
 
The last phase is the packaging process: the coffee is left to rest inside special silos and packaged only when the right level of maturation has been reached. Proper packaging is important for ensuring that the coffee flavour and aroma are not altered. The coffee is packaged in vacuum packed bags and is available in 250g bags for ground coffee, 500g and 1 Kg bags for whole beans and single-serving paper for pods. Before it reaches the market, Co.ind coffee is left to mature two weeks into the warehouse: before it reaches the market it must be approved by an expert panel of tasters
